Translation Magic

Translation magic is relatively unknown in the Dragonlands. Comprehend Languages, Tongues, and similar magical spells are largely unheard of, whether of divine or arcane origin.

Draconic

As a setting with more focus on dragons than is normal, Draconic as a language requires modification.

Low Draconic replaces most mentions of Draconic in the books. It is generally familiar to sorcerers and other arcane casters.

High Draconic is spoken by actual dragons, and given draconic influence on government, is used as an Imperial 'court language'. It is rarely learned outside the higher echelons of the court and high-ranking priests of the dragon-worshipping clerical orders. If you want a character to be conversant in High Draconic, it requires DM approval.

Outsiders and Elementals

Common extraplanars in other settings (e.g. Demons, Devils, Celestials, etc.) do not exist in this setting. As a result, the languages Celestial, Infernal, and Abyssal do not exist. The closest equivalents in the Dragonlands typically are conversant in Tellurian, the language common to elemental spirits drawn into the world. Other elemental tongues such as Auran, Aquan, Ignan, and Terran still exist, and some elementals will prefer -- or insist -- on being spoken with only in their preferred dialect.
